For gyms and studios

Revenue that needs no
floor space and no stock.

Almost every way a gym adds revenue costs you square metres, staff hours or shelf space. This costs none of the three. Refer members for blood testing and earn on every test they ever book.

Every year

And those members keep testing. In year two you earn from them again, on top of everyone new.

Based on each member testing twice a year, which is the typical pattern. The range reflects the panel they choose. Illustrative, not a guarantee.

The short version. Your members already spend money on supplements, wearables and recovery. Blood work is the only thing on that list that tells them whether any of it is working. You refer them, they get money off, and the gym earns on that test and every test afterwards.

No stock, no space, no staff time, no clinical responsibility. Free to join with no minimum.

Why this is a growing market, not a favour

Private health testing in the UK has changed shape in the last three years, and it has moved directly towards the people already paying you a membership.

NHS pressure has normalised paying privately. Waiting lists and appointment scarcity mean people who once expected everything free now budget for health. Blood testing is among the cheapest ways to do that, which makes it an entry purchase rather than a luxury.

GLP-1 medication has created a large new group inside your membership. Tens of thousands of people in the UK are taking tirzepatide or semaglutide privately, most prescribed from an online questionnaire with no blood work at all. They are in your gym right now, they need a baseline and monitoring, and almost nobody is providing it.

Longevity has gone mainstream. Markers that were specialist five years ago are now discussed on ordinary podcasts. Your members have heard of ApoB and fasting insulin, and they cannot get either from a GP.

You are not creating demand here. It already exists on your gym floor and is currently being met by finger-prick kits sold through social ads.

Why it works better than most gym revenue ideas

The usual options each come with a cost that is easy to underestimate.

Revenue ideaWhat it actually costs you
Supplement retailCash tied up in stock, shelf space, expiry dates, and a margin under constant pressure from online pricing
Extra classesStaff hours, studio time, and a schedule that only works if attendance holds
Body composition scanningCapital outlay, floor space, maintenance, and a device that dates
Sports therapy or physioA room you cannot use for anything else, plus a practitioner to fill it
Blood test referralsNothing. No stock, no space, no staff hours, no equipment

That is the whole argument. It is not that referral commission is larger than retail margin. It is that it carries no fixed cost, so a quiet month costs you nothing rather than sitting on your balance sheet.

It also makes your trainers better at their jobs

A member who tests gives your floor staff something real to work from. Instead of guessing why someone is flat or why progress has stalled, they can see that ferritin is 14, or that insulin resistance is blunting an otherwise correct programme. Better programming shows up in results, and results show up in retention.

And it gives you a reason to have a conversation

Results land, a trainer talks them through, the plan gets adjusted. That is a retention touchpoint you would not otherwise have had, and it repeats at every retest.

How the money actually works

The important difference from most referral schemes is that this one does not stop after the first sale.

Most people retest every six to twelve months once they have a baseline. That is why fifty members becomes a recurring annual figure rather than a one-off.

How to actually run it in a gym

The gyms that get the most from this do three simple things.

  • Put a flyer on reception. There is a print-ready A5 in your portal. Most enquiries start with someone picking one up while they wait.
  • Brief the floor staff. They are the ones having the conversations about tiredness, stalled progress and supplements. Give each of them a login so their referrals are attributed to them, and decide internally how you want to share it.
  • Raise it when it is relevant, never as a pitch. A member saying they are exhausted despite sleeping is the moment. A member on a GLP-1 who has never had bloods done is another.

What you should not do is blanket message the membership. It converts badly and it makes the gym look like it is selling something rather than recommending it.

Common questions

Referral revenue is one of the few options that needs no floor space, no stock and no additional staff hours. The gym introduces members to a service and earns commission on what they book. There is nothing to buy in, nothing to store and nothing to write off if a month is quiet.

No. Members book directly with TrueVitals and attend a clinic or arrange a home visit. No blood is taken on your premises, you hold no medical data, and you carry no clinical responsibility. The gym makes the introduction and nothing else.

It depends on how many members you refer and which panel they choose. Fifty members testing twice a year works out at roughly £4,000 to £8,000 annually, and it recurs because members keep testing. Exact per-panel rates are shown in your dashboard once you are approved.

Both. The portal supports multiple people on one account, so each trainer can create codes under the gym's partnership and you can see who referred whom. That means you can reward the floor staff who actually have the conversations while the commission still comes to the business.

No. There is no joining fee, no monthly cost, no minimum number of referrals and no contract. If nobody books in a given month it has cost you nothing.

No. You are not providing a medical service, taking samples or interpreting results. TrueVitals holds the relationship with the member and carries the clinical responsibility. You should still be honest with members that you earn commission if they book.

That is not a problem and you do not need to end it. Most gyms find the useful comparison is depth and method: how many markers, whether it is a venous draw or a finger-prick kit, and whether the report explains anything. Look at an example report and judge it against what your members currently receive.

Commission is credited automatically as soon as a referred order completes, and once your balance passes £50 it is paid straight to the business bank account through Stripe. If you are not VAT registered there is no invoice to raise.
