TrueVitals Specialist Network

Dr Soraya Gill

A comprehensive blood test can tell you a great deal about your biology. The harder question is what to do with that information. That is Dr Gill's specialism, and it is why her expertise sits behind the way TrueVitals reads results.

Three decades in medicine

Dr Gill qualified from the University of Manchester in 1983 and trained across medical and surgical specialties before entering general practice. Over more than three decades her work has spanned diabetes, prescribing and medicines optimisation, complex multimorbidity, prevention and screening, public health, mental health and addiction medicine, patient education, medical teaching and practice leadership.

Alongside that clinical career she has built a deep working knowledge of the fields that now sit at the centre of preventative medicine: metabolic health and insulin resistance, cardiovascular prevention, nutrition and culinary science, nutrigenomics and precision nutrition, exercise physiology, strength and body composition, sleep and recovery, weight-management science, healthy ageing and digital health.

How she works

Her approach is to take the information in a set of biomarkers and place it in the context of the individual: medical and family history, medications, lifestyle, fitness, body composition and personal goals. From there she identifies the changes most likely to produce a meaningful gain in health, and builds a personalised lifestyle prescription around them: nutrition and food preparation, physical activity, strength, cardiovascular fitness, sleep, recovery, stress, alcohol and the other behaviours a person can actually change.

One of her strongest clinical skills is helping people change. Much of her career has been spent helping patients understand why a change matters and turning medical advice into something achievable in everyday life. Her aim is not perfection, but consistent behaviours capable of producing measurable improvement over time.

She applies the same philosophy to her own health: structured nutrition, endurance and resistance training, body-composition assessment, sleep and recovery, wearable data and longitudinal biomarkers. Measure carefully, understand the physiology, identify what can be changed, act consistently, and measure again.

Dr Gill and TrueVitals

Dr Gill came to TrueVitals first as a customer. She had her own comprehensive panel tested with us and tracked her markers over time, and was impressed by the depth of the testing and the quality of the reporting: every marker read against the others, in plain English, with the physiology explained. As we learned more about her background, we invited her to join the TrueVitals Specialist Network, and she accepted.

TrueVitals reports are built on a clinical knowledge base that is reviewed and refined with practising specialists. Dr Gill contributes her expertise in metabolic, cardiovascular and lifestyle medicine to that work, helping keep the interpretation framework behind every report current, evidence-based and clinically grounded.
