Signature panel
The Signature panel, 230 biomarkers processed by Randox Health, is collected at the Randox Health clinic inside Holland & Barrett in Chester city centre, a short walk from the Rows and the bus interchange. Why Chester
Chester sits on a border, and the border matters for blood tests. Half the people who use these clinics live in Wales, where NHS waiting lists are the longest in Britain and a routine GP blood test can mean weeks for an appointment and weeks more for a phone call about it. The other half are Cheshire and Wirral commuters into Liverpool and Manchester with a metabolic profile that looks fine and quietly is not. Both groups want the same thing: the full picture, quickly, explained. That means ApoB and Lp(a), which predict cardiovascular events better than cholesterol; fasting insulin and HOMA-IR, which show insulin resistance a decade before HbA1c moves; and the full thyroid, ferritin, B12 and vitamin D set, which is where most unexplained tiredness in a damp, northern climate actually lives. An NHS Health Check tests fewer than ten markers once every five years and includes none of these.
Fasting insulin and HOMA-IR show the problem 10 to 15 years before HbA1c leaves the normal range, while it is still reversible. Both are in the Ultimate panel. HbA1c guide.
The cardiovascular markers that outperform cholesterol, and the ones that explain heart disease in people with "normal" results. ApoB is in every panel; Lp(a) in Ultimate and Signature. ApoB guide.Lp(a) guide.
The four markers behind most unexplained tiredness, all in every panel and all read against each other, so the report can say which one is actually the cause rather than sending you back to the GP queue. Thyroid guide.Ferritin guide.
