Private Blood Test
Southampton

A private blood test in Southampton with TrueVitals is £399 for 140 biomarkers (139 for women). There is no partner clinic inside the city, so most Southampton customers have a phlebotomist visit their home or office for £29 (£428 in total). If you would rather travel, the draw is included at our Winchester (SO23) or Fareham (PO17) partner clinics, each about 11 to 13 miles away.

No GP referral. Venous draw by a trained phlebotomist, not a finger-prick kit. The Signature panel (230 biomarkers) is drawn at a Randox Health venue in Southampton city centre.

Where you go

Where you have your blood taken in Southampton

We would rather be straight with you: TrueVitals has no partner clinic within Southampton itself. The nearest are in Winchester (SO23, about 11 miles) and just north of Fareham (PO17, about 13 miles). For most people in the city, a home or office visit is the easier option.

Southampton is a regular home-visit area, so a phlebotomist can come to you across the city and nearby towns such as Totton, Eastleigh, Hedge End and Chandler's Ford. Signature is the exception: it is drawn at a Randox Health venue in the city centre.

How it works

How a Southampton blood test works

01

Order online

Choose Ultimate (£399) or Advanced (£319), and clinic or home visit (£29 extra). Klarna and Clearpay are available at checkout.

02

Get your referral by email

Your referral is created the moment you pay and arrives by email with the number to call. It never expires, so you can book next week or next month.

03

Phone to book your draw

Ring the booking line when it suits you and book a home visit, or a slot at Winchester or Fareham. The call confirms your identity and date of birth and books the appointment there and then. The draw takes about ten minutes.

04

Read your report

Your clinician-reviewed report arrives within 4 working days of the lab receiving your sample, with every marker explained in plain English, PhenoAge and your TrueScore.

Nine in ten customers are booked within seven days. You can switch between a home visit and a clinic at any point, and if you change your mind before booking, cancellation is automatic and fully refunded.

What is tested

What the Ultimate panel tests, and who it suits

Whether the draw happens at your kitchen table in Shirley or at the Winchester clinic, the test is the same: 140 biomarkers (139 for women) from one venous sample, measured by Nationwide Pathology, a UKAS-accredited lab, and read together in one written report.

Heart and cholesterol

Full lipid profile plus ApoB, Lp(a) and high-sensitivity CRP. ApoB and Lp(a) are rarely part of a routine NHS cholesterol check.

Blood sugar and metabolism

Glucose and HbA1c, plus fasting insulin, HOMA-IR and C-peptide, which can show insulin resistance before HbA1c moves.

Thyroid

TSH, free T4 and free T3, with thyroid antibodies. A routine check often stops at TSH.

Hormones

Sex hormones (the set depends on your sex), cortisol and DHEA-S, read alongside your thyroid and metabolic markers.

Organs, blood count and nutrients

Liver and kidney function including cystatin C, full blood count, iron studies, vitamin D, B12 and folate.

Immune, coeliac and tumour markers

Immunoglobulins, coeliac screening and selected tumour markers. Tumour markers are not a cancer screen on their own; your report explains what a result does and doesn't mean.

Who it suits in Southampton

  • You want a full baseline without travelling: the phlebotomist comes to you, so the draw fits around work, shifts or childcare.
  • You have been told your bloods are "normal" but still feel tired, foggy or not yourself, and want the markers a routine test leaves out.
  • You have a family history of heart disease or diabetes and want ApoB, Lp(a) and fasting insulin measured.
  • You want the deepest panel available locally: Signature (230 markers) is drawn in Southampton city centre.

The other two panels

Advanced, 74 biomarkers, £319 including the clinic draw. Full thyroid with free T3, ApoB, iron studies, hormones including cortisol and DHEA-S, liver, kidney and vitamins. It leaves out Lp(a), fasting insulin and HOMA-IR, C-peptide, immunoglobulins, tumour markers and cystatin C. Advanced panel

Signature, 230 biomarkers, £799 including the draw. Everything in Ultimate plus specialist markers such as homocysteine, ApoE, small dense LDL, cardiac injury markers, IGF-1 and active B12, drawn at a Randox Health venue. Results take up to 12 working days. Signature panel

Being straight with you

When the NHS or your GP is the better route

Go to your GP (or call 111) instead

  • You have new or worsening symptoms, such as chest pain, unexplained weight loss, blood in your urine or stool, or a lump. Call 999 in an emergency.
  • You are aged 40 to 74 in England with no existing heart, kidney or diabetes diagnosis: the free NHS Health Check (every five years) includes a cholesterol test and diabetes risk check.
  • You are already under a hospital team for a condition. Keep your monitoring bloods with them.
  • You are pregnant: antenatal blood tests come through your midwife.

When TrueVitals is not the right buy

  • You only want one marker rechecked. A single-marker test is far cheaper than a full panel, and you would be paying for a visit you don't need.
  • You want a walk-in clinic in Southampton city centre for Ultimate. We don't have one; if that matters more than the panel depth, a provider with its own city clinic may suit you better.
  • You want a consultation with a doctor on the day. No TrueVitals panel includes one; the value is in the written, clinician-reviewed report.

A private test does not replace your GP. If your report flags something that needs follow-up, it says so plainly and tells you what to take to your GP. NHS vs private blood tests, compared

FAQs

Southampton blood test questions

TrueVitals sends a phlebotomist to your home or office anywhere in Southampton for £29 extra. There is no partner clinic inside the city; the nearest, with the draw included, are in Winchester (SO23, about 11 miles) and near Fareham (PO17, about 13 miles). The Signature panel is drawn at a Randox Health venue in Southampton city centre.

Ultimate (140 biomarkers) is £428 with a home visit in Southampton (£399 plus £29), or £399 if you go to the Winchester or Fareham clinic. Advanced (74 biomarkers) is £319 including the clinic draw, or £348 at home. Signature (230 biomarkers) is £799 including the draw. Klarna splits Ultimate into 3 interest-free payments of £133.

Not for Advanced or Ultimate. We list only the clinics we actually use, and the closest are Winchester and Fareham. That is why we recommend a home visit for most Southampton addresses. Signature customers do have a Randox Health venue in the city centre.

Your referral is created as soon as you pay and it never expires. Phone the booking line whenever you are ready; nine in ten customers are booked within seven days, and the call books your slot there and then.

Eastleigh and Chandler's Ford are about 6 miles from the Winchester clinic. Romsey is about 10 miles from Winchester, so a home visit is often easier. Portsmouth is about 4 miles from the Fareham clinic.

For the most accurate glucose, insulin and cholesterol results, fast for 8 to 12 hours beforehand (water is fine and helps the draw) and book a morning slot if you can. If mornings don't work for you, you can still book later in the day.

Yes. The phlebotomist takes the same venous sample, it goes to the same UKAS-accredited lab, Nationwide Pathology, and you get the same clinician-reviewed report. The only difference is the £29 visit fee.
