London Medical Laboratory Review 2026: Is LML Worth It?

London Medical Laboratory Review
Is LML Worth It? (2026)

Short answer: yes, if you want a specific blood test quickly and cheaply. London Medical Laboratory (LML) runs its own laboratory in Fulham, sells single tests from £39 and profiles up to £159, offers home finger-prick kits as well as blood draws, promises next-day results and includes a doctor's report. The trade-offs: the blood draw costs extra (£35 at a test location, £80 at home), the biggest panels are phlebotomy only, and its most comprehensive wellness profile is 50 health indicators.

Facts checked on londonmedicallaboratory.com and Trustpilot, November 2026. Written by James Smillie, founder of TrueVitals, which competes with LML: see our bias statement below.

Tests and Prices

London Medical Laboratory tests and prices (November 2026)

LML sells a long menu of single tests and profiles. These are the general health and wellness options most people compare, with prices as shown on londonmedicallaboratory.com when we checked.

TestPriceWhat LML listsCollection
General Health Profile£8919 health indicators: liver (ALT, albumin, ALP, GGT, bilirubin), cholesterol (6 including non-HDL), kidney (creatinine, urea, eGFR), HbA1c, iron, urate, calciumFinger-prick kit +£3.99, test location +£35, or home +£80
Premier General Health Profile£9934 health indicators: adds a full blood count, AST, globulin, total protein, creatine kinase and iron studies (the page also mentions 44)Phlebotomy only: £134 at a test location, £179 at home
Well Person Premier Plus£119A wider wellness profile (we did not verify the full list)Phlebotomy only
Well Man Premier Plus£15950 health indicators: Premier plus full white cell differential and RDW, ferritin, folate, B12, vitamin D, TSH and free T4, hs-CRP, magnesium and testosterone (the page also mentions 56)Phlebotomy only: £194 at a test location, £239 at home
Well Woman Premier Plus£159Described by LML as its most comprehensive wellness profile for women (we did not verify the full list)Phlebotomy only
Ultimate Athlete Performance£209 (£219 with PSA)"Over 60 biomarkers" aimed at athletesAt home or in clinic
Single testsFrom £39For example Testosterone Check £39, Vitamin B12 £39, Cholesterol Lipid Profile £39, HbA1c £45, Vitamin D £49, Thyroid Function (TSH, free T4) £49, Thyroid Full Profile £79, Male Hormone Profile £99Many offer finger-prick or a blood draw; Thyroid Full is phlebotomy only

Prices from LML's product and category pages, checked November 2026. The test price excludes collection: LML lists a Royal Mail finger-prick kit (+£3.99, ages 12+), an onsite test at a test location (+£35, ages 16+) and at-home phlebotomy (+£80, ages 18+) as add-ons. Some LML pages give two different indicator counts for the same profile; we have used the count that matches the biomarker list on the page.

Read the total, not the headline. Because the blood draw is priced separately, the price you pay for a profile that needs phlebotomy is the test price plus £35 at a test location or plus £80 at home. The Well Man Premier Plus Profile, for example, is £159 on the page and £194 with a test-location draw.

What It Does Well

What London Medical Laboratory does well

Low entry prices. Single tests from £39 make LML one of the more affordable ways to check one thing, such as vitamin B12, testosterone or cholesterol, without paying for a large panel you do not need.

Fast results. LML advertises next-day results. Its clinic page says samples are couriered to its laboratory the same day and results are due the next working day. Few providers are quicker.

Its own laboratory. LML processes samples in its own laboratory in Fulham, and says it is CQC registered. Its product pages describe a certified UKAS laboratory. Running the lab itself is part of why it can turn results round so quickly.

A doctor's report included. Results come with doctors' analysis and a personalised report via a secure link, at no extra charge. LML says its clinical team includes consultant pathologists, biochemists, haematologists and GPs.

Choice of sample. Smaller tests can be done with a home finger-prick kit for £3.99 extra, or as a proper blood draw at a test location or at home. Having both options is genuinely useful: a finger-prick suits a single marker; a venous draw is more reliable for big panels, which is why LML insists on it for them.

Plenty of places to go. LML has its own test location stores, pharmacy partners and what it describes as 100+ partner phlebotomy clinics, plus home phlebotomy if you would rather not travel.

Limitations

Where London Medical Laboratory falls short

The draw is extra, and adds up. £35 for a test-location draw or £80 for a home visit is added to every profile that needs phlebotomy. On a £99 or £159 profile, that is a large share of the total.

Even the biggest wellness profile is focused. The Well Man Premier Plus Profile lists 50 health indicators. It covers the essentials well, including vitamins, ferritin, TSH and free T4, hs-CRP and testosterone, but it does not list free T3 or thyroid antibodies, SHBG or other sex hormones, ApoB or Lp(a), or PSA. Those are available, but as separate tests at separate prices.

Inconsistent counts. Some product pages give two different numbers for the same profile (for example 34 and 44 for Premier General Health, 50 and 56 for Well Man Premier Plus). Count the biomarker list, not the headline, before you compare.

Finger-prick is only for smaller tests. If you want a home kit, you are limited to profiles such as the General Health Profile (19 indicators), which LML notes does not include the full blood count. Larger panels need a phlebotomist.

An ageing review profile. LML's Trustpilot profile showed 3.9 out of 5 from 3,272 reviews when we checked, but Trustpilot notes the company has not recently invited customers to review, and many visible reviews are from earlier years. Staff and speed are praised; price is the most common complaint. It is hard to judge current service from it either way.

One report per test, not one picture. The doctor's report covers the test you bought. If you build up a picture from several separate tests, you get several separate reports rather than one analysis that reads everything together.

Experience

How an LML blood test works

Choose a test and a collection method. Pick the test online, then choose a finger-prick kit (where offered), a draw at a test location, or home phlebotomy. For the in-store route, LML suggests finding your nearest location first and booking from there.

Give the sample. LML says a clinic draw usually takes no more than ten minutes, and a courier takes the sample to the laboratory the same day. Finger-prick kits come with pre-paid return postage. For testosterone, LML says the best time to sample is between 7am and 10am.

Get results. Results are due the next working day, through a secure link, with a personalised doctor's report. LML says that results outside the reference range, or symptoms despite a normal result, may need further testing or a conversation with your GP.

Verdict

Who should choose LML, and who should choose something else

Choose LML if:

You want one or two specific markers checked cheaply. You want results the next working day. You want a doctor's comment included without paying extra. You are happy with a home finger-prick kit for a small test. You are in London and can walk into a test location, or you want to re-test the same marker regularly.

Consider something else if:

You want a full health check in one test, including the full thyroid, sex hormones, ApoB and Lp(a). You want the draw included in the price. You want one written analysis that reads all your results together. See London Medical Laboratory alternatives, private blood tests in London and UK blood test companies compared.

LML or TrueVitals?

London Medical Laboratory vs TrueVitals Ultimate or Signature

We make two of the alternatives, so weigh this accordingly. The honest summary: LML is cheaper and faster for a focused test; TrueVitals is broader and reads everything together.

TrueVitals Ultimate (Ultimate panel) is 140 biomarkers for £399 including the blood draw at one of 103 partner clinics, processed by Nationwide Pathology (UKAS-accredited). The clinician-reviewed report is written from your own lifestyle quiz, reads every result together across body systems and includes a PhenoAge biological age. Signature adds 90 more biomarkers and physical measurements at a Randox Health clinic for £799.

When TrueVitals is not the right choice. If you only need one or two markers, LML's single tests from £39 are far cheaper than any of our panels. If you need results the next working day, LML is faster. If you want a home finger-prick kit, LML offers one and we do not (Ultimate is a venous draw only). And if you want to walk into a test location and book there and then, LML makes that easy; Ultimate is booked by phoning the clinic after you pay (the referral never expires).

How we reviewed (and our bias)

TrueVitals is a UK blood testing company; we compare ourselves too. We reviewed London Medical Laboratory using only what its own website showed in November 2026, together with its Trustpilot page read the same month (reviewed 2 November 2026). We did not buy an LML test for this review. Where LML's pages disagreed (for example on indicator counts), we said so and used the biomarker list on the page. We have led with what LML does well, said plainly where it is the better choice, and included its draw fees in totals because that is what you actually pay. Prices change often, so check before you buy. Written by James Smillie; reviewed by the TrueVitals clinical review team.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is London Medical Laboratory legit?
Yes. London Medical Laboratory (LML) runs its own laboratory in Fulham, London, says it is registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (certificate CRT1-4708702735), and its product pages describe a certified UKAS laboratory. On Trustpilot its profile (londonmedicallaboratory.co.uk) showed 3.9 out of 5 from 3,272 reviews when we checked in November 2026, though Trustpilot notes the company has not recently invited reviews, so many are older.
How much does a London Medical Laboratory blood test cost?
Prices on londonmedicallaboratory.com in November 2026: single tests from £39 (for example testosterone, vitamin B12 or a cholesterol profile), General Health Profile £89, Premier General Health Profile £99, Well Person Premier Plus £119, and Well Man or Well Woman Premier Plus £159. Collection is extra: a finger-prick kit adds £3.99, a draw at a test location adds £35 and a home phlebotomy visit adds £80.
Is London Medical Laboratory finger-prick or venous?
Both, depending on the test. Smaller profiles such as the General Health Profile can be done with a home finger-prick kit or a blood draw. Larger profiles, including the Premier General Health Profile and the Well Man Premier Plus Profile, are phlebotomy only: LML says the comprehensive scale of those profiles needs a professional blood draw, at a test location or at home.
How fast are London Medical Laboratory results?
LML advertises next-day results. Its clinic how-it-works page says the sample is couriered to the laboratory the same day and results are due the next working day, sent through a secure online link.
Does London Medical Laboratory include a doctor's report?
Yes. LML's product pages say tests include doctors' analysis, and results arrive with a personalised report from its doctors via a secure link. LML also says that results outside the reference range, or symptoms despite normal results, may need further testing or a conversation with your GP.
Where can I get an LML blood test?
At LML test location stores, pharmacy partners and what LML describes as 100+ partner phlebotomy clinics around the UK; its Find Us page lists the nearest ones. LML also offers at-home phlebotomy, where a phlebotomist visits your home or office, for an extra £80.
Is London Medical Laboratory worth it?
For a quick, focused check it is good value: single tests from £39, next-day results and a doctor's report included. It is less suited to a broad, all-in-one health check, because its largest wellness profile is 50 health indicators and the draw costs extra, so a Well Man Premier Plus at a test location comes to £194.

Want everything in one test?

Ultimate: 140 biomarkers (139 for women), £399 including your blood draw, clinician-reviewed report within 4 working days. Or Signature: 230 biomarkers at a Randox Health clinic, £799.
