Short answer: yes, if you want to track a focused set of markers at home every few months. Thriva is a well-reviewed UK subscription service: you build a package from 50+ blood markers (or take its Compass programme, £360 a year for three tests), collect a small sample at home without a needle, and a GP writes your report. It is less suited to a single, very broad check-up, or to anyone who wants a large venous panel in one go.
Facts checked on thriva.co, Thriva's help centre and Trustpilot, November 2026. Written by James Smillie, founder of TrueVitals, a competitor: see our bias statement below.

Thriva is built around repeat testing rather than a one-off check. You take a short online quiz, choose the tests it suggests (or your own), and start a subscription. Thriva describes the price of a package as a base fee, which covers the kit, postage, the lab's handling of the sample and the GP's review and report, plus the lab cost of each test you add. You can change which tests are in your next package before it is sent.
The kit arrives by Royal Mail Tracked 24. You collect a small sample at home (Thriva's General Health kit asks for two tubes, about ten drops of blood), post it in the prepaid envelope, and results appear in the app and online dashboard, usually within two working days of the lab receiving it. Your next kit follows after three months unless you change the frequency.
You pick the tests and the frequency, and you are billed per test cycle. Every result is reviewed by a GP, who writes a report with lifestyle advice. You can change, postpone or cancel from the Subscriptions page in your account before an order is placed.
£360 a year, paid upfront (about £30 a month), renewing each year. Three tests roughly every four months: a fixed 33-marker baseline set by Thriva's doctors, then follow-ups of 20+ markers adapted to your results and goals. Each test comes with a 1:1 doctor consultation. Thriva's Confidence Guarantee refunds in full before the first test, two-thirds after the first and one-third after the second.
Both routes include the Thriva app: a Healthspan Dashboard, connections to wearables (steps, sleep, heart rate), benchmarks by age and sex, and a Health Assistant chat tool that answers questions between tests.

Prices as displayed on thriva.co on 1 November 2026. Thriva was advertising a discount on first subscription orders that day, and its thyroid page did not say whether the prices shown already included it, so check the total at checkout. Thriva does not list one fixed price for a personalised package because it depends on the tests you add.
It makes repeat testing easy. The subscription does the remembering for you: a kit arrives on schedule, results land in the app, and trends are plotted across tests. For anyone tracking something that changes, such as cholesterol after a diet change, vitamin D through winter or ferritin while training, that habit is genuinely useful.
A gentler way to collect blood at home. Thriva's Autodraw device takes a sample from the upper arm without a needle, which many people find easier than squeezing drops from a fingertip. If needles or finger-pricks have put you off testing before, this is a real advantage.
A GP writes every report. Results are not just a list of numbers: a GP adds a written, plain-English explanation and lifestyle advice. On Compass you also get a 1:1 doctor consultation after each test, which is unusual at this price.
Fast results. Most packages report within two working days of the lab receiving your sample.
A polished app. Wearable syncing, age and sex benchmarks and health goals make Thriva feel like a health-tracking product rather than a one-off lab result.
Flexibility and a strong review record. You can change tests, postpone or cancel, and Thriva holds an Excellent rating on Trustpilot from more than 3,000 reviews (TrustScore 4.6 on 1 November 2026).
Small samples mean focused panels. Home collection gives the lab a small volume of blood, so Thriva's packages are built around a focused set of markers (its full menu is 50+ blood markers, and the Compass baseline is 33). That suits tracking; it is not designed to be a one-sitting check of every body system. Read more in our guide to finger-prick vs venous blood tests.
It is a subscription first. Thriva sells its personalised packages on a repeating plan. If you only want one test, you need to remember to cancel or change the frequency before the next order is placed. Compass is paid a year upfront, with only a partial refund once the first test has been done.
Gaps for a full health check. The categories Thriva lists on its "what we test" page are lipids, blood sugar, kidney, sex hormones, micronutrients, liver, thyroid and inflammation. We did not find tumour markers, cortisol or coeliac screening on that list, so if those matter to you, check the current menu before you buy.
Venous draws are an extra. A nurse visit through Heim costs £60 on the General Health test and is arranged by email after you buy.
Quarterly costs add up. A General Health test at £117 every three months is £468 a year. That buys a year of trend data on seven groups of markers, which is worth it for some people and not for others.
Thriva and Medichecks figures checked on thriva.co and medichecks.com on 1 November 2026. For the full head-to-heads see Medichecks vs Thriva and Thriva vs Forth.
You want to test the same handful of markers every few months and watch the trend. You dislike needles or clinic visits and want a gentler home collection. You like a polished app that pulls in your wearable data. You would value a GP's written explanation, or (on Compass) a doctor to talk your results through after each test.
You want one comprehensive check-up rather than an ongoing plan. You want markers outside Thriva's list (for example tumour markers, cortisol or coeliac screening) in the same test. You would rather not manage a subscription. You want a venous sample as standard rather than as a paid add-on.
If you are weighing Thriva against a single broad test, our Thriva alternatives guide lays out the options, and how often should you get a blood test? helps you decide whether quarterly testing is worth it for you.
A blood test is a snapshot of the markers it measures, on the day it was taken. It can show patterns worth acting on, such as raised LDL cholesterol, low ferritin or an HbA1c drifting upwards, and repeat tests can show whether a change is working. It can't rule out conditions it doesn't measure, it doesn't replace an examination, and one slightly abnormal value is often explained by hydration, recent exercise, illness or the time of day.
Whichever provider you use, take symptoms seriously in their own right. Chest pain, unexplained weight loss, blood in your stools or urine, or a result your report flags as needing prompt attention should go to your GP (or NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency), not wait for your next kit.
We make one of the alternatives, so weigh this accordingly. TrueVitals Ultimate is a different kind of product: one venous test of 140 biomarkers (139 for women) for £399 including the blood draw at one of 103 partner clinics, or £29 extra for a home or office visit. The sample goes to Nationwide Pathology (UKAS-accredited) and you get a clinician-reviewed report within 4 working days of the lab receiving it. The report is written from your own lifestyle quiz and reads every result together across systems, with a PhenoAge biological age estimate. Ultimate includes ApoB, Lp(a), fasting insulin with HOMA-IR, cortisol, full thyroid with antibodies, cystatin C, coeliac screening and tumour markers (with PSA for men). Klarna (3 interest-free payments of £133) and Clearpay are available at checkout.
TrueVitals isn't the right choice if you want to track a few markers every three months (Thriva is built for that and costs less per test), if you want a needle-free home sample (we only use venous draws), if you want an app with wearable syncing, or if you'd rather book your draw slot online: with us you book by phone after paying, and the referral never expires. If you only need one marker, such as vitamin D or a thyroid check, a smaller test from Thriva or Medichecks makes more sense.
TrueVitals is a UK blood testing company; we compare ourselves too. We reviewed Thriva using only what thriva.co, Thriva's help centre and its Trustpilot page showed on 1 November 2026; we did not buy a Thriva test for this review. Where Thriva's site didn't state something clearly, we left it out or said so. Prices and menus change, so check before you buy. We have led with Thriva's strengths and said plainly where TrueVitals is not the better choice. Written by James Smillie; reviewed by the TrueVitals clinical review team. Published 2 November 2026.
Ultimate: 140 biomarkers, £399 including your blood draw. Clinician-reviewed report within 4 working days. Or Signature: 230 biomarkers, £799. Not sure? Answer a few questions about you and see which markers are worth checking.
